On this day that brings you full circle to 95 years of life on the planet, I wish you Happy Birthday. I also want to thank you for your compassionate contributions to not just South Africa, but to the world. You have been that shinning beacon of light so many needed in order to see the way past their own ignorance's and prejudices. It was the unexpected warmth and not the expected rage and anger that made so many see the wrong in their ways, and it was your strength of self and your faith in man that gave then the room to grow. You made us all better.
When you came to NY, your very first visit after being released from prison, I saw you at the old Yankee Stadium and I was moved to tears by your grace. I reasoned that you couldn't be human, and if you were then I wanted to evolve into what you were.
I don't know how much longer we'll have you with us, hopefully until we get our act together, though right now that seems a long way off. If you do leave us before then, please Madiba, don't forget us down here!
Happy Birthday Mr. Mandela

Grace...Yes, exactly. I heard him speak many, many years ago. Your description was perfect. He inspired in me an effort to try harder through hope, giving, and kindness.
