So I came across something the other day about the KKK, yes those backwards asses that dress in sheets are still around. These brain dead idiots held a rally in a little town called Spirit Lake which is in Idaho. Now if you didn't know or were unaware, Idaho is the whitest state in the country so typically in the past, white supremacist groups have found a home there, which just makes sense. You wouldn't start a faction of the Black Panther Party there, just like the Klan wouldn't have a recruitment march in Chicago, New York, or D.C.
To be fair, I have criticized White America for not stepping up to the plate and coming down on the crazy in their house, and there is a lot of crazy. Far too often White America has plunged their heads in the sands and have chosen to ignore the crazies, which has driven me crazy by the way. If you have a drunk uncle at the family outing, don't you try to keep him away from mucking up some other family's day? Of course you do, but White America has seen fit to leave that drunk uncle alone and let him go rampaging through the country, messing up everyone else's day. That was until Spirit Lake, Id.
Spirit Lake is a small town, a population no great than 2000 people as of the 2010 census, yet it seems the people of Spirit Lake take that word spirit literally. On July 27th, the KKK held a rally, a sort of meet and greet with the people of Spirit Lake and things didn't quite go the way the Klan wanted them to go or thought they would. Instead of them being surrounded by a rapt audience who would drink in their message of hate, intolerance, bigotry, and fear, the Klan instead found themselves and their message rejected outright.
The Klan was outnumbered by law enforcement and people protesting their presence, not that many were needed. The Klan and their supporters numbered six while twelve law enforcement officials and eleven protesters showed up to shout them down. I know, I know, not big numbers but that doesn't make this any less important. White America has grabbed that drunk uncle for the time being, sat his ass down on a bench somewhere, and told him not to move. I applaud you Spirit Lake and I can only hope that you guys are the spark that sets a revolution ablaze.

Mitt Romney, A Damn Liar!
It's one thing to lie when no one can prove you lied. There's no damning evidence that you're not telling the truth. There are no witnesses to state unequivocally that you're lying and that no one should believe you. There's no body in a ditch somewhere, well you know what I'm getting at. It doesn't take much heart on ones part to lie to ones face when they know they're guilty. Like the lawyers say, "It's not what you know, it's what you can prove". Last year there was a man that ran for the office of the Presidency against the incumbent Barack Obama, and this man made lie after gaff after lie, all of which could be proven. Thankfully this liar lost in his bid to become president, and he subsequently faded into obscurity, or so we thought.
He's back, and this time he's armed with the boldest of lies!!! That would be the tag line on the Romney II sequel movie poster, were there one. This time around Mitt the liar is trying to convince us all that a statement he said during his losing campaign was taken "out of context". He wants us all to believe that he was misunderstood, that he didn't mean it the way it was perceived. It was the statement that bit him in the ass and cut his campaign off at the knees, that dreadful 47% comment.
Now Mitt is calling me a fool, and not just me but everyone else who know what they heard when that comment went viral. Now he's saying we all took it the wrong way. Now just in case you missed it, Mitt said this about the 47% of the people that will never vote for him at a 2012 fundraiser in Florida that was closed to the press,
"And so my job is not to worry about those people [the 47%] -- I'll never convince them that they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives. What I have to do is convince the 5 to 10 percent in the center that are independents, that are thoughtful, that look at voting one way or the other depending upon in some cases emotion, whether they like the guy or not, what it looks like."
Mitt then said this recently in an interview with the Washington Post's Dan Balz,
"Actually, I didn't say that ...That's how it began to be perceived, and so I had to ultimately respond to the perception, because perception is reality."
No disrespect meant to Mr. Balz' last name, but it takes a serious pair to make a comment like that after EVERYONE knows what you said, and how you meant it. Don't insult my intelligence Mitt, I hate it when people do that, when they try to make it seem like what I know and what I believe is concrete to be false. You made that 47% comment in a room full of people that feel the exact same way you did. You knew going in that you were going to be throwing red meat to your most ardent supporters, you unshakable base. You knew a room full of millionaires would eat that nonsense up so you spoon fed it to them in what you thought was a private conversation amongst the wealthy. Basically you got exposed.
So now that you want us to believe that you didn't say that, do you also want us to believe your many other lies as well, like the one about Jeep? Or how about the one where you wanted the American people to believe that you weren't a corporate raider when you were at Bain Capitol? How about when you said you don't line up with the NRA before you ran for President only to do a complete 180 and state that you are a lifetime member of the NRA when on the campaign trail. I could run down a list of every lie that fell from Mitt's lips but my fingers might fall off. And now you want me to believe that the infamous 47% crack was taken out of context. Maybe when the sky turns a deep shade of purple and zombies walk the earth.
What I don't understand though is why is he back? Why is he giving interviews with the Washington Post of all papers? Does he have a book out that he's pushing? Is he trying to be a king maker in the GOP in 2016? I mean, doesn't he know his name is dirt and just getting worse? Right now he's on the same level as that woman who could see Russia from her house so I don't get it. I'm sure it will all be revealed in time, until then I will continue to believe what I believe, and what I believe with all my heart is Mitt Romney is a damn liar.

More Zimmerman news. Hilarious, tragic, or both?
Okay, just when I think white people can't surprise me anymore with what they do, they go and shock the shit out of me one more time. Now I have been admonished in the past because I say "white people" and not "some white people", but I say "white people" because those that disagree with the way their white counterparts act, think, or in what they say need to admonish their own or else get lumped in with them all. That is after all what happens to Black men, no?
The latest case of white people are crazy takes place in the great swing state of Ohio. It's there that Ken Hanson, a gun instructor and the legal chairman of the Buckeye Firearms Foundation went on the Piers Morgan show Monday night to defend his efforts for raising money, $12,000 in fact in order for George Zimmerman to perhaps purchase another gun. Yep, read it again...I'll wait.
Now to be fair to backwards ass Ken Hanson, he did say, "The first thing to point out is the purpose of the fundraiser was not just to buy a gun. It was to buy a gun, gear, ammunition, training, security systems, personal protection, whatever he felt was appropriate to defend himself, defend his family, defend his parents". So it's not all about a gun, it's about the ammo too because as you and I know, a gun is just a paper weight without the bullets. This is the most shocking thing that has come down from Crazy White Mountain in the past what, say 24 hours?
The capper though, the piece de resistance of all of this was when Piers Morgan asked backwards ass Ken, what if Zimmerman shot and killed another unarmed Black teen, say someone like Trayvon's older brother, with the gun Ken and his crazy foundation helped him purchase. Let's say George found Trayvon's older brother suspicious much in the same way he found Trayvon the night he shot and killed him. Backwards ass Ken said, "If someone is on top of Mr. Zimmerman again, repeatedly bashing his head into the concrete, and he acts in self-defense, that's incredible bad luck that he found himself in that situation twice. But we'll sleep soundly". Yep, read it again...I'll wait.

Now it's Tim Allen and the N word?
What IS it with white people and there unquenchable desire to want to use the N word? I don't get it. I don't understand why ANYONE would want to fight to use a racial slur. What is behind this battle white people want to wage to use a word they created to denigrate Blacks with in the first place? Is it because Black people co-opted the slur and now white people want it back? If white people were smart, which they obviously fail aren't in this regard, they would run as far away from the N word and any derivation of said word as fast as they could.
You will never hear me wonder why I can't call an Italian a "wop", or why I can't call a Jew a "kike". I will never scream out why when I am told that calling a Latino a "spic" or a Mexican a "wetback" is not allowed. The initial thought would and should be why would I even want to call those ethnicities any of those racial slurs? I wouldn't. I instead run in the opposite direction from those words as fast and as hard as I do the N word, AND I'M BLACK!!! Why, because they're fucking offensive. So why do white people seemingly want to fight to utter that vile word and then want to justify their using the word?
Michael Richards went on the classic N word tirade while doing stand up comedy one night. He was going at a Black heckler, who was obvious getting the better of him, and chose to use that hot button word over and over and over again. Little did he know that someone was taping the show and when they got home, splashed that racist rant all over Youtube. That forced Michael Richards to apologize publicly with Jessie Jackson by his side. Funny thing is, if that incident were not taped and made public, Michael more than likely would have denied the entire incident ever took place, it would have become an urban legend.
Then came Paula Deen, who absolutely sees nothing wrong with the way she used the N word or wanting to dress up middle aged Black men in plantation era costumes for a "Southern style wedding" for her dear old brother. Being sued by former employee Lisa Jackson, these were her words regarding what she would like to see at her brothers wedding according to the suit,
“Well what I would really like is a bunch of little niggers to wear long-sleeve white shirts, black shorts and black bow ties, you know in the Shirley Temple days, they used to tap dance around,” the lawsuit claims Deen said. “Now that would be a true southern wedding, wouldn’t it? But we can’t do that because the media would be on me about that.”
She was more focused on how the media would respond to that than her actual use of the N word itself or dressing Black men up as house slaves at what was more than likely going to be an all white wedding.
And now we have Tim Allen who wants to use the word and possibly follow Michael and Paula into the land of obscurity. It seems he's confused about when or when not to use the N word. In an interview with Eric Deggans, a Black reporter from the Tampa Bay Times Timmy boy said this,
“I’ve had this argument on stage a million times. I do a movie with Martin Lawrence and pretty soon they’re referring to me, 'hey, my n-----’s up.' So I’m the n----- if I’m around you guys but 7 feet away, if I said n-----, it’s not right. It’s very confusing to the European mind how that works, especially if I’ve either grown up or evolved or whatever, it literally was growing up in Colorado, with Hispanics and Anglos, that’s all I remember. So when Paula Deen (admits her language), they go after her, and now we’ve gone backwards in the world."
Well Mr. Allen, here is a clue for your confused European mind, the right time to use the N word is NEVER! You should never say it, you should never encourage anyone else to ever say, and you shouldn't ever even THINK it! Does that clear some things up for your confused mind? I hope so, and I hope you never utter that word anywhere, but especially on stage because you are bound to get some white person killed. You'll have them thinking it's okay to use it because you used it. That's called reckless endangerment Mr. Allen and their blood would be on your hands. Just saying.

Mad Men? Really?
You know, when I hear white people talk about how much they LOVE the show Mad Men, I get it, I really do. What's not to love about that show from their perspective? It's based in the 1950's when you could smoke indoors, run a business without the fear of being sued for sexual harassment or discrimination, and where Black people are relegated to butlers, maids, shoe shine boys and the like.
That's why I can't help but scratch my head and look at Black people like they've just grown two heads when they tell me they too LOVE that show. I have gotten into some seriously deep discussions about that show and it's exclusions of Black people and Game of Thrones and theirs. I have heard crap like, "Well GOT has just one Black character and he's a pirate," which is true, can't argue that particular point. The point I CAN argue however is that GOT is fantasy, based in no kind of reality that we know of whereas Mad Men IS based in a reality that we are all to well aware of.
People have a hard time understanding why I don't like that show and I have an even harder time trying to understand why they can't understand that. Why would I be a fan of a show that is based in a time when all Black people were really was the help staff? They counter that with, "but it's so well written and with you being a writer and all, I would just imagine that it would pull you in". Now I know white folk are a fascinating bunch, some of the things white people do leaves me speechless and in awe, but what could make me want to watch a show about an advertising agency run by white men who smoke, drink hard liquor at lunch, and cheat on their wives with their secretaries? I don't see the appeal.
I tell my Mad Men fan friends to keep on watching that show and if something drastic changes in the cast to let me know. Meanwhile, I'll keep on being entertained by GOT and the wonderful writing of a fantasy show with dragons, king slayers, castle intrigue, and brutal violence. Honestly, I think I'm getting the better of the deal.

Jay-Z said WHAT?!
Okay, after I stopped laughing my ass off and caught my breath, I sat back and gave this some serious thought. I re-read what was said and then I started laughing hysterically again. I can't believe this negro said what he said. Shawn Carter aka Jay-Z aka J Hova aka Jigga had the nerve to take umbrage at what Harry Belafonte said about him and his wife Beyonce Knowles Carter.
Back in August of 2012, The Hollywood Reporter interviewed Mr. Belafonte before he was to pick up his Golden Leopard Honor Award. It was during that interview that Mr. Belafonte opened up on a myriad of topics from not wanting Mitt Romney to win the presidency to his acting and singing careers. He also opined on the lack of Black entertainers getting involved in what he called "social responsibility". He singled out Jay-Z and Beyonce in his answer. This was what Mr. Belafonte said...
"THR: Back to the occasion of the award for your acting career. Are you happy with the image of members of minorities in Hollywood today?
Belafonte: Not at all. They have not told the history of our people, nothing of who we are. We are still looking. We are not determinated. We are not driven by some technology that says you can kill Afghans, the Iraqis or the Spanish. It is all -- excuse my French -- shit. It is sad. And I think one of the great abuses of this modern time is that we should have had such high-profile artists, powerful celebrities. But they have turned their back on social responsibility. That goes for Jay-Z and Beyonce, for example. Give me Bruce Springsteen, and now you’re talking. I really think he is black."
Now I have no idea what "determinated" means but I can let that go, it's Harry Belafonte after all. The more I thought about whether Mr. Belafonte was right in singling out Jay and his wife, the more I realized he was right. Unless Jay-Z is doing that "celebrity" thing, where they donate and give in private, where they ordered their PR person to sit on this one and keep it quiet, Jay and Beyonce haven't been all that active in the "social responsibility" realm. In fact, the more I think about it, their record is piss poor in speaking out or giving back. Then I read Jay's response to the above comments...and I laughed.
"I’m offended by that because first of all, and this is going to sound arrogant, but my presence is charity. Just who I am. Just like Obama’s is. Obama provides hope. Whether he does anything, the hope that he provides for a nation, and outside of America is enough. Just being who he is. You’re the first black president. If he speaks on any issue or anything he should be left alone…I felt Belafonte he just went about it wrong. Like the way he did it in the media, and then he big’d up Bruce Springsteen or somebody. And it was like, “whoa,” you just sent the wrong message all the way around…Bruce Springsteen is a great guy. You’re this Civil Rights activist and you just big’d up the white guy against me in the white media. And I’m not saying that in a racial way. I’m just saying what it is. The fact of what it was. And that was just the wrong way to go about it."
Yes, the one time Brooklyn drug dealer had the nerve to say that his "presence is charity". At least he was smart enough to realize that it was going to sound arrogant, but that doesn't make it any less offensive. Jay-Z's presence is charity? To whom exactly? Then he took it even further by comparing himself to the leader of the free world, saying that his presence was akin to Obama's. He stated that Obama's presence provides hope and how because he is the first Black president, if he speaks on any issue that he should be left alone. In case you missed it, that's called deflection. Taking the shine off of himself and putting it on Obama, even though Mr. Belafonte said NOTHING about the President in his interview.
Then this negro seemed to take offense that Mr. Belafonte "big'd up" the white guy instead of himself and thought it was wrong of him to do so in the "white" media. That came from the mouth of the man who is listed as one of the executive producers for the movie The Great Gatzby that was released this year and was directed by the very white Baz Lurman. He's also producing the movie Annie directed by the very white Will Gluck. Now if you don't count those two horrible films earlier on in his career, Streets Is Watching and Paid In Full, Jay-Z hasn't given a Black director a break, social responsibility indeed. What I think Jay should have done was to look back on his "social responsibility" record and try to see where Mr. Belafonte was coming from, try to understand why he said what he did. If he does that, he may just end up agreeing with Mr. Belafonte's comments, just like I do. Anyway, thanks for the laugh today Jay, I needed that.

No more "White Guilt"?
Recently, right wing radio host Rush Limbaugh said this about slavery, "It's time for all this "white guilt" to end...If any race of people should NOT have guilt about slavery, it's Caucasians".
That is a mind blowing statement, as well as an eye opening one. Reason being is because there is no way Rush believes this by himself. There is no way in the world is he walking down this road alone. There are politicians, teachers, law makers, law men and woman, next door neighbors, co-workers, and even friends of yours who may secretly or even publicly feel this way.
The "get over it" mantra is something I have been hearing a lot of lately after the Zimmerman trial. I've also heard phrases like, "that was in the past," or, "you can't blame me for what my ancestors did," which is true. What is also true though is because of what some young white man or woman's ancestor did to those that look like me, it has a allowed that young white man or woman to live a life relatively free of struggle. Of course that's not all whites and I would never say all whites, but the fact cannot be denied that slavery, hundreds upon hundreds of years of free labor not only built this nation, but it also made many white people wealthy beyond imagination. I liken that to this analogy, it's like having a full time job where you make $80 to $100,000 yearly, and you pay no rent, no utilities, and you don't have to buy any food or clothes...EVER!
Now I am not advocating for white people to "feel guilty" about slavery, what's done is done dammit! But don't look upon me with fear or derision when it was your ancestor which brought my ancestor here in the first place. Yes, when you see a Black person know that you are seeing a victim of massive kidnapping, a survivor of systemic brainwashing, and family genocide. You are seeing a person whose ancestors survived the beatings, brutal and inhumane treatment, the horrible living conditions, the loss of our true beliefs in our God(s), and the complete annihilation of the Black family. But hey, feel no guilt Rush, that's cool.
I have always felt and firmly believe one of the worst things that has ever happened to the Black people in this country was the integration of the public school system. To tell a people who've been enforcing Jim Crow laws that they now have to send their children to school with children of a different hue was too much of a shock to their system, and I believe in ramped up racial hatred. I also believe telling Black parents and children that they will now be bused to white schools instead of having the school where their children were not only comfortable but SAFE be improved, instilled a mind numbing fear that to this day hasn't really subsided. Not to mention it put good Black teachers out of work and it gave some racist white teachers, some of whom were firm believers in Jim Crow, the ability to destroy self confidence, character, and motivation of young Black children. In short it allowed those teachers to destroy those children.
While I know some do not agree with me on that point, what we all can agree on is just how stupid and foolish people like Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Ted Nugent, Rand Paul, Steve King, Jan Brewer and so man others make white people seem. Like I said before white people, you have crazy in your house, and you need to do something about it...quickly!

Happy Birthday Emmett
Wow, if not for some band of racist cowards or possible disease or illness took your life, you would have been 72 years old today. I have defended your name with a ferocity I rarely display and I do so because your name, the boy you were deserved that at the very least. I cannot imagine what your last minutes were like before you were slain, I don't even want to try putting myself in your shoes then, but you didn't deserve such treatment. Ever since I learned of your story, it's incensed me to think that someone else had the right to arbitrarily take your life. They didn't care about who you were, or what you may have become, and they didn't care about who loved you. The fact is, they didn't see you as a boy at all, they saw you as a thing, a thing.
We are still dealing with that very thing all these years later. Young men, much like yourself are being killed and are dropping at ridiculous rates, not just by those that looked like your pack of murderers, but by those that look like you as well. I often wonder if they knew of you and your story, would that have any effect on them, would it change them for the better, or are they just too far gone and see each other as things and nothing more.
Recently all I have been hearing is how race has nothing to do with why things are the way they are. Like this asshole named Ted Nugent who is under the impression that we are the cause for our own suffering. Not that those decision makers in Washington D.C. who cut programs designed to help the inner cities, and starve them of necessary resources has anything to do with what we as a people go through and deal with. Emmiett, you know like I do that they are a bunch of liars.
On what would be your 72nd birthday I want to apologize for the way your name has been forgotten, misused, and disrespected by those that don't look like you and by those that do. I want to let you know that as long as I can draw breath into my body, I will always defend your name as emphatically as I do my own. I also want to thank you for shaking so many from their slumber. Nothing good came from your death, but your death was not in vain. Your mother and her courage sparked a movement Emmett, and that movement eventually landed a Black man in the White House.
Happy Birthday Mr Till, and may you continue to rest in eternal peace.
Respectfully,
Mark

NRA, Where Are You? An open letter.
Dear NRA,
Well the trial has come and gone and the person WITH the gun has killed the person WITHOUT the gun, and has been found innocent. Still believe in that "guns don't kill people" crap? Now I am aware that you, the NRA has a new president. That your crazy ex-president Wayne Lapierre was put out to pasture, which was a good move on your part, but I am unnerved by your silence. It's deafening!
It seems that after the tragic events that were Aurora CO., Newton CT., Boston, and after what happened to Gabby Giffords, Wayne came out stating that what every school needed was armed guards. He said, after Boston, "How many Bostonians wish they had a gun two weeks ago?" in a speech he gave back in May to your throng. Wayne was calling for more guns to be on the streets because he feels the more guns there are, the less tragedies there will be. That's like saying the more cars there are on the road, the less auto accidents there will be. Isn't it funny though how Wayne and no one else from your organization is calling for youug Black teenagers to arm themselves?
What's wrong with young Black men and women getting strapped to protect themselves? You know how much money you guys could pull in in recruitment fees right now? Those kids parents just might join too, make it a family affair. Yet not a peep out of you guys. Is it because you don't think Black people should arm themselves? That can't be it, right? After all, aren't they Americans just like you? And don't you guys want ALL Americans to be protected? It's in the damn Second Amendment you guys shout out as loud as you can if you even think someone is coming to disarm you. "IT'S MY RIGHT!" you all scream, and remember when then president Charleton Heston said, "I'll give you my gun, when you pry it from my cold dead hands", and yet not one of you is screaming that Blacks should arm themselves after what happened to Oscar Grant III, Sean Bell, Trayvon Martin, or Darius Simmons. I wonder why that is? Does the thought of young Black and brown people gearing up and arming themselves make it harder for you to sleep at night? If so, why would it?
Maybe it's because of your current new president, a racist redneck idiot by the name of James Porter. An Alabama lawyer (just proves everyone's point about lawyers) who believes that the NRA was founded "by some Yankee generals who didn't like the way my southern boys had the ability to shoot in what we call the war of Northern Aggression. Now ya'll might call it the Civil War, but we call it the war of Northern Aggression down south". If that doesn't sound like a man still stuck in the past then I don't know what does. And this may be why you, the NRA has played the sidelines on this one. Your president definitely doesn't want to see your fellow Black and brown Americans armed and defending themselves from white aggressors. It's fine if they kill each other up in Chicago or Detroit, over in New York, L.A., D.C., or down in Miami, but you definitely don't want them armed and within the walls of your gated communities, hell that thought makes ME nervous for you.
You're all a bunch of fucking HYPOCRITES and cowards. Let a white school get shot up like Columbine or Newton and you want armed guards in every school. Let unarmed Black men get killed and you sit on your hands and close your mouths. And they call this the home of the brave, what a fucking joke.
Sincerely,
Me

Open Letter to Ted Nugent
Dearest Ted Nugent,
This was bound to happen. I saw this coming because it was inevitable. I just didn't know when or how it would come about, but Ted Nugent, you were going to piss me off to the point where I immortalize you in my blog. Why do I bestow such an honor on such an asshat like yourself? Well it's because you had the unmitigated temerity to call Stevie Wonder "brain dead" for boycotting performing in Florida and any other state where there are "stand your ground" laws on the books.
First off Ted, for you to call ANYONE brain dead is hilarious. You are dumber than a box of rocks, period. Now while you are smart enough to get your "fans" to buy your music, that doesn't say much about your fans. Anyway, during an interview with radio station WXBR you had the gall to say, "So 700 black people, mostly young children and young people were slaughtered in Chicago last year by black people, and not a peep out of Stevie Wonder. Are you kidding me? What is this, ‘One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest’? How brain-dead do you have to be?" You then went on to say that you would pray for Stevie and "all those other numnuts who think that Trayvon Martin's life was more important than the tens of thousands of slaughtered Blacks at the hands of Blacks". I'm actually wondering how you know there wasn't a "peep" out of Mr. Wonder regarding the violence in Chicago. Are you monitoring all the airwaves? Are you big brother?
Ted, to name call is well within the wheel house of your massive ego and it speaks to the unreachable depths of your ignorance. To call someone brain dead because that someone chooses to not preform somewhere until there is change in that state is mind boggling. Now to think that you all of a sudden care about the "tens of thousands" of Blacks who have been killed at the hands of other Blacks is heartwarming, but I am not buying. To call Stevie Wonder brain dead, a man with more style, grace, class, talent, and dignity than you have ever known at anytime in your life pisses me off. What you and quite a few others are obviously too stupid to understand is that Stevie doesn't and neither does anyone else thinks Trayvon's MURDER is more important that anyone else's MURDER. What Stevie is saying is that until Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, and Utah abolishes that law, they won't be making any money off his back until that happens. That law that has been used by Black defendants who have killed other Black people.
Stand your ground laws isn't a white people against Black people law, it's just a law. One that Stevie and now many other artists along with citizens want done away with. Do you get that Ted, you right wing jackass? It's not about thinking one persons MURDER is any more or less important than the MURDER of anyone else. All they want, you brain dead bastard, is to be rid of that ridiculous law. So save your prayers Ted, or better yet pray for yourself since you need some kind of guidance and understanding.
Sincerely,
Me

FAT THUMBS!
This goes out to all of you people blessed or cursed with fat thumbs, and you know who you are. You have my sympathies :(
Biting at the Presidents Heels, Updated!
I don't know how I feel about this, I mean there have been men throughout history that have made their names, earned their bones, or skins, whatever on the backs of Presidents. Either by being loyal advocates or screaming dissenters, people have applauded and rewarded that loyalty or they applauded and rewarded someone seemingly brave enough to stand up and criticize the most powerful man on the planet. I can respect both of those types, the protagonist and antagonist because that's a natural thing. Not everyone is going to agree with you or like an idea that you have, no matter who you are.
My issue is when that criticism comes with nothing else. No plan or idea on how to make something better, to turn things around, to move that mountain. No, all it is is nonstop vitriol and nothing more, and it's done every time someone puts a mic in front of them no matter where they are. Case in point, Tavis Smiley and Cornell West. These two men have done nothing but voraciously criticize the President every chance they get. And the novelty is that both these men are Black criticizing the first Black President, and they do so relentlessly.
It has become something of an issue to say the least. These two men are either enjoying their time in the spotlight with their bashing of President Obama and have fallen under it's hypnotic glare, or they just don't care. Sean Hannity from Fox News invited both men on his show and greeted them with these words, "I don't think we agree often but I do enjoy when both of you criticize Barack Obama." I don't know what that says to you, but to me it's a clarion call to stop being so vociferous in criticizing the President. If the evil, backwards ass, supremely ignorant Sean Hannity says something like that, wouldn't you think about changing your course instead of continuing to travel down that same road?
I respected Cornell West, never respected or cared much for Tavis but that's my own issue. To watch these two men continue to snipe at the Presidents heels is an embarrassment and it diminishes them in my eyes. I know, I know, who am I, right? Well I could either just be one man who feels this way or I could be one of hundreds, maybe thousands, and possibly millions who feel this way, and when President Obama finally leaves office for the last time with his legacy intact to hang his hat on, what will the legacy be of these two men? What will they have to hang their hats on when it's all said and done?
Update: now the idiot that is Cornell West, while on Tavis Smiley's show this past weekend aimed his vitriol on MSNBC and Rev. Al Sharpton. Claiming Al is still on the "Obama Plantation" and that MSNBC has this "rent-a-negro phenomenon". It's official, this man has lost his damn mind.
There is speaking out and making a point, there is also agreeable disagreement, but name calling a man many Black people admire and insulting the network he works for incenses me. Earlier I said he was diminishing in my eyes, now he's all but vanished.

My Front Door
When I was younger I never gave much thought about making it home when I was out and about. I just naturally assumed I'd make it home, that no matter what I was into I would make it home somehow, some way. I'd say my goodbyes, kiss my mother, give dad some dap, and avoid the questions about where I was going and when I might be back. I'd grab my keys and lock the front door behind me. When that elevator arrived, I was FREE! The world was my oyster and I was a hungry pup.
As I got older I realized slowly that getting home may not be as easy it was before, that there were certain things I had no control over. So I started watching my step, but I still ran for that front door every chance I got. Now though, instead of heading home drunk at ridiculously late hours, and just assuming I'd be okay I became a little more mature. Maybe I won't have another beer, maybe I'll head home now instead waiting until 4am to make that trek back to the Bronx.
The one time I was approached by at least seven members of the NYPD, all white, and all with their guns drawn, that's when it hit me, getting home safely was now a task I had to accomplish as opposed to something that just happened naturally. It was then that I began to look at my front door a little differently. Before when I used to run through that door so fast to be free that it seemed like the door didn't even open when I left, I began to wonder what was waiting for me on the other side now. I began to wonder if I would make it home. Don't get me wrong, I still hit the streets and acted a fool, but that thought of getting home safely was always in my thoughts.
I knew that if something happened to me, if I didn't walk through that front door, it would literally kill my mother. She wouldn't be able to handle it at all and I can't even try to imagine what mothers feel when they say goodbye to their child and that child never comes home again. I thought about that and suddenly my getting home was all about her. I felt a responsibility to get home safely, to spare my mother the anguish of possibly having to visit me in the hospital or having to identify me in the morgue. I can't speak for all Black men but the two biggest threats to making any one of those happen were the police or other Black men. Navigating through my own kind can be relatively easy at times, the police were harder to read but I did it, I always walked back through that front door whenever I raced out.
Now in the year 2013 AT (After Trayvon), I look at my front door in a way I never have before. Now I not only have to worry about the police shooting me like they did Sean Bell, or being a victim of Black on Black violence, now I have to worry about armed white men as well. When I was younger, that door meant freedom, it meant getting together with friends, it meant laughter, it meant good times. Now that door could open up and lead me to my being injured or worse, death. Behind that door I used to feel stifled, caged, imprisoned but now I know behind that door I am safe, free to be me. Behind that front door I can drop my sword and shield and not worry about an attack. I can ease the minds of those that love me when I let them know that I am home safely. I still go out, I still like to have some fun, but there are people that love me and want me around for awhile, and that is what has me getting home, behind that front door of mine at a reasonable hour now.
That Special Place.
While I am not a religious man, and while I am not one who goes for the whole afterlife heaven/hell thing when we die, I have to think there's a special place full of pain and misery for those "special people". All my life I've heard about that "special place in Hell" for certain people. The mothers who kill their children, the men who rape little girls, the father who slays his entire family, the woman that has her husband killed for the insurance money, shit like that. Well that place, if it exists will get a little tighter when Antonio Owensford and Anwar Desouza die.
Why, you ask? These two fucking animals, I guess with way too much time on their hands, lured a 16 year old girl to a rooftop at 4 am. Now why a 16 year old is out and and about at 4 in the morning is a question that begs to be answered, but that doesn't give anyone the right to do what these two dregs did. They lured this girl to a rooftop, raped and used her, and then threw her off the roof once they were done with her.
She survived but was badly injured and is still hospitalized. The assault took place in the East New York section of Brooklyn just a few days ago, and while 24 yr old Desouza is in custody, 26 yr old Owensford remains at large. Hopefully he'll be caught and jailed for this heinous crime, but if not, there is always that special place waiting for him and Desouza in the end.

From the mouths of babes....
How often do children make adults look like the idiots we usually tend to be. Outside of that show, "Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader" kids don't usually get to show up adults. They don't really get the chance to make sense out of things that adults lose their minds over, and they don't normally get to see a mole hill for just that and not some goddamn Everest sized mountain.
Recently however, some brave adult decided to ask the children what they thought of that "controversial" Cheerios commercial. The one where the little girl asks her mother if Cheerios is really good for your heart and then buries her father in a box of Cheerios as he sleeps on the sofa. By the way, my mom would have killed me for wasting that much food, but I digress.
The kids so clearly made every person who left a racist comment on youtube when the commercial aired, look like a simpering fool, and I loved it. Watch these kids, it will warm your heart and possibly give you hope for the future. From the mouths of babes.

Do you know what it's like?
Do you know what it's like to walk into a store and know that before you do, you're every move is going to be watched and scrutinized? That someone will pay closer attention to the video monitors or will be staring at those mirrored bubbles that hang from the ceiling even harder because of you? Do you know what it's like to consciously keep your hands out of your pockets? Do you know what it's like to be followed up and down every aisle of a store, and asked repeatedly if any help is needed no matter how many times their assistance is turned down?
Do you know what it's like to sit down on a crowded bus or subway and immediately know that no one is going to sit down next to you? Do you know what it's like to feel like a stranger in the land you grew up in, that visitors to your land get more benefit of the doubt than you do? Do you know what it's like to be harassed, stopped, frisked, and hassled by the very same men and women who are sworn to protect and serve you? The very same men and women whose salaries come from your own tax dollars?
Do you know what it's like to be looked at as less than or not smart enough before you ever get the chance to open your mouth? Do you have any idea what it's like when people are "pleasantly surprised" at the fact that you're well read or well spoken, as if that was going to be so unlikely? Do you know what it's like to have your intelligence questioned, just because? Or your work ethic? Or your principals?
Do you know what it's like to be looked at with fear for doing absolutely nothing? That just as you know no one will sit next to you, someone will follow you, that the protect and serve people will racially profile you, that someone somewhere sees you as nothing more than a threat? Do you know what it's like to have people surprised to hear you don't have children, especially since they just assumed that you did, well..."because you ALL have children".
Do you know what it's like to be told that you're different, special, odd even because you're "not like the rest of them"? Do you know what it's like to have had to curb your natural self, put away your personality, divert your eyes, and make yourself small in such a way as to not frighten other people? Do you know what it's like to be shocked to make it out of your twenties?
Do you know how hard it is to not let all of this NOT drive you crazy? If you don't look like me then probably not.

My jealousy!!!
I recently had a conversation with my mom about the racial madness and injustice we in this country are currently embroiled in, and I told her I was jealous of her.
"Why?" she asked.
"Because mom," I said, "You lived during that time, that incredible time, those magical days when Malcolm X was alive, and in the prime of his life," I replied.
That's when my relatively calm mother went off. First the huge smile lit up her face, the words followed quickly behind it.
"Oh baby, let me tell you, I used to go to the mosque just to hear him speak cause you know I'm not Muslim but my goodness, he was something special. He was worth the trip, no matter how long it took to get wherever he was at to hear him talk. I loved that man."
All I could do was stand there and smile. After a few seconds I asked, "I wonder what he would say about the world we live in today if he were with us and in his prime, what would he say about the acquittal."
Mom lit up again, "You KNOW he would have something serious to say, something that would probably scare the piss out of white folk," she said and we both laughed at that truth.
"We need someone like him today," I said. Mom nodded her head in agreement, still smiling.
I gave her a kiss and again told her just how jealous I was of her and left her to her crocheting.

Add another name to that list.
Michael Stewart
Eleanor Bumpers
Amadou Diallo
Jordan Davis
Trayvon Martin
Anthony Baez...
The one thing all these names have in common is that they were murdered doing nothing wrong, and they were all unarmed. We now have another name to add to this list, Darius Simmons. Darius was a Black 13 year old who was murdered by his white next door neighbor, 76 yr old John Henry Spooner.
Spooner was under the impression that Darius broke into his house and stole weapons, an allegation that was apparently baseless. Spooner confronted the unarmed Darius in front of his own home and shot the boy in the chest in order to "teach him a lesson" according to what Spooner told Darius' mother. Darius later died in his mothers arms.
Spooner was convicted of the crime, but now the jury is deliberating on whether or not Spooner was insane at the time. If found insane, Spooner will spend the rest of his days doing soft time in an asylum instead of hard time in a penitentiary.
The list above looks short, but when you look at those names, those were people that loved and were loved, people that will never hold a loved one again or be held, people that can not be replaced. That list is wholly incomplete I am sure, and now there's yet another name to be added to the list. Rest in peace Darius Simmons, you won't be forgotten.

Free Rodney Stanberry!!!
So it seems to come down to one of two things, if they can't kill us, they imprison us. If they can't walk up to us in the street and shoot us dead, they will ignore all the evidence that screams "INNOCENT!", and lock us up. If they can't take our lives, they will be hell bent on trying to ruin them.
Case in point, Rodney K. Stanberry! In the great state of Alabama, in the year 1992 Valerie Finley was shot in the head during a robbery of her house. Thankfully Valerie survived the shooting, unfortunately though, when she emerged from her three week coma, she informed the authorities that it was Rodney Stanberry who shot her, her husbands best friend. Rodney was arrested and in 1997 was sentenced to a 20 year prison term.
Now comes the interesting part. Firstly, there was NO physical evidence linking Rodney to the crime scene at all. Secondly, he was at work during the robbery, a claim confirmed by his time sheet at his place of employment, BFI, a waste management company. And lastly, and most incredibly, another man went to the prosecutor of the case and admitted that HE was in the house at the time of the shooting, NOT Rodney. The prosecutor ignored the man and the jury never got to hear that man testify under oath on the stand.
Rodney K. Stanberry has been denied two paroles, even though he has a family, a job waiting for him upon release back with BFI, letters from co-workers and superiors stating what an upstanding man Rodney is. One of his former supervisors even testified at one of Rodney's parole hearings. Rodney never had a criminal record before this case. None of this was taken into consideration it appears and Rodney is now into his 17th year behind bars for a crime he did NOT commit.
There is only one explanation for this, Rodney K. Stanberry was RAILROADED! A man, who had never been in trouble with the law all of a sudden turns around and shoots someone in the head to rob her husband of his gun collection? That sounds like something out of a movie, not real life. Apparently the prosecutor thought it sounded more like Rodney than a plot hook, and got him convicted of a violent crime.
For more information about the case, go to freerodneystanberry.com or call the Mobile District Attorney, Ashley Rich and demand the case be re-opened at 251-574-8400 or 251-574-5000.

Marc Anthony now, huh white folk?
White Folk. Ahem, I said WHITE FOLK!!! You mofo's just don't seem to get it do you? First it was the Cuban-American that broke your little white hearts by winning the Home Run Derby, remember the guy you wanted to pay in goats instead of "American" dollars since he didn't speak English? Now I hear you have an issue with one of the largest recording artists on the planet mind you, Mr. Marc Anthony. For some reason, you idiots are under the impression he's Mexican, and even if he was there wouldn't be a damn thing wrong with that, but he's not. You know what, do your fucking homework!
Marc Anthony IS American. Born in the Bronx and of Puerto Rican descent, Marc Anthony is just as American as you cowardly racist bastards, if not moreso. He is the EPITOME of this so called "American Dream" white America likes to tout to the world, you know the one, "Come to America and make your dreams come true". Well Marc was already here and he's paid his dues. How do I know? Because I saw him in concert. Not one of his many sold out shows at Madison Square Garden, no. I saw Mr. Marc Anthony at some little rinky dink club near Westchester Square up in the Bronx back in the day before he hit it big, called Sidestreets.
He worked for his, white folk, which is more than I can say for the most of you. He put his time in, and you cowardly punks have the nerve to hide behind tweets and try to denigrate him for singing "God Bless America" by calling him a Mexican? By saying he shouldn't be allowed to sing such a song because he's not from here? REALLY?
Look white people, I like you, I truly do. Some of the products you make are really nice, some are even helpful, but you got crazy in your house and you need to call an exterminator, NOW! If you don't get your thumbs out your asses and your heads out of the sand, your house is going to come tumbling down around you, and it won't be anyone else's fault but your own.

Happy Birthday Madiba
On this day that brings you full circle to 95 years of life on the planet, I wish you Happy Birthday. I also want to thank you for your compassionate contributions to not just South Africa, but to the world. You have been that shinning beacon of light so many needed in order to see the way past their own ignorance's and prejudices. It was the unexpected warmth and not the expected rage and anger that made so many see the wrong in their ways, and it was your strength of self and your faith in man that gave then the room to grow. You made us all better.
When you came to NY, your very first visit after being released from prison, I saw you at the old Yankee Stadium and I was moved to tears by your grace. I reasoned that you couldn't be human, and if you were then I wanted to evolve into what you were.
I don't know how much longer we'll have you with us, hopefully until we get our act together, though right now that seems a long way off. If you do leave us before then, please Madiba, don't forget us down here!
Happy Birthday Mr. Mandela

White Folks stuck in the past!!!
It seems that some white folk are outraged that the recent home run derby winner doesn't speak English. Cuban born Yoenis Cespeedes, who made history for being the only home run derby winner who wasn't picked to play in the All Star Game, created an uproar racist tweets from white fans of the game when they realized Yoenis doesn't speak English. One truly offensive tweet stated that Yoenis should be paid in goats instead of American dollars.
White America, I know you think baseball is still your game, still" America's Pastime", but you need to look out on that field, you need to take a long hard look into those dugouts. There aren't many white ball players left. And while the ones that are still playing in the major leagues are fantastic ball players, they don't begin to scratch the surface of talent or athleticism that their teammates of color possess. You want an all lily white sport, go watch a hockey game. Oh wait, hockey isn't completely white anymore either. Well try golf then. Shit, my bad. Uhhh tennis perhaps? Just don't watch the ladies play and you'll be alright there.
My point is this, you white America, you need to get over this living in the past crap. I completely understand your wanting to hold on to the 1950's way of life, that time when everything was like Mad Men, where Blacks knew their place and Latinos were barely heard from. Yeah, those days are over and it's high time you realize this.
As for your precious American Pastime, since 1996 there have only been three, THREE white winners of the Home Run Derby. Juiced up Brady Anderson in 96, juiced up Jason Giambi in 02, and Justin Morneau in 08. All the other winners have either been Black or Latin, and so what one of them doesn't speak the language you want him to speak, who the fuck are you?
