This series on PBS has been not just upsetting but eye opening, it's also been profoundly educational. I am posting this series on my blog not just for others to have a place where they can see it, but for me to be able to see at my leisure without having to look for it myself.
Part 1: "Slavery evolved one law at a time; one person at a time." Ironic. Have we learned nothing? History continues to repeat itself. Is there much difference between then and our current mandatory sentencing laws? Both specifically target(ed) the Black residence of this country with the goal of controlling their ability to gain success in American society.
